Galatians Summary

Paul addresses the false doctrine of following areas of the law. This was imposed upon the Galatians by Judaizers. Paul also included the time he confront Peter and Barnabas of this type of issue “If you, being a Jew, live like the Gentiles and not like the Jews, how {is it that} you compel the Gentiles to live like Jews?” Because, “a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus”. Paul supports his argument that we are to live by the Spirit and not the law, given the example of Abraham “Abraham BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS RECKONED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS”, basically, “those who are of faith are blessed with Abraham, the believer.” So why the law then? The law was established to point us to Christ, “Let me put it another way. Hebrews 8 - New Covenant written in our hearts and minds

Setting – explaining the New Covenant Content – I like how NLT intros this chapter (v.1 NLT) “ Here is the main point : Our High Priest sat down in the place of highest honor in heaven, at God's right hand.” This point being that Jesus is our high priest now for us with God. Verse 2 (NLT), “There he ministers in the sacred tent, the true place of worship that was built by the Lord and not by human hands.” Jesus’ place of ministry is a permanent place of worship. The place of worship here (v. 5a NLT) “is only a copy, a shadow of the real one in heaven.” Jesus, under the new covenant, (v. 6 NLT) “is the one who guarantees for us a better covenant with God, based on better promises.” Because (v. 7 NLT) “the first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no need for a second covenant to replace it.” But (v. 8 NLT) “God himself found fault with the old one when he said: “The day will come, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and Judah”” The

Quiet time in Numbers (part 1)

I'm first going to post, in bulk, the studies that I have already done. Numbers 15:1-13 Setting - God giving instructions for when Israel enters the promise land; Canaan. Content - God gave instructors regarding presenting the offerings while in Canaan. Application - Am I following the instructions of the Bible as God provided? Do I rest as God instructed? And what is my daily sacrifice to God? Numbers 15:14-31 Setting - God giving instructions for Israel regarding alien sojourners. Content - Aliens are to follow the same law that was given to Israel. Application - when someone sins unintentionally, once the sin is recognized, they are still to present a guilt offering to the Lord. We are still responsible for ourselves. We can’t assume that ‘since we didn’t know we don’t have to worry about it’. God still requires holiness from His people and once the Spirit reveals the unknown sin to us we are to repent and as for forgiveness. Numbers 15:32-41 Setting - A man was caught gathering
