When most people think about coming to God they make an effort to clean themselves up; basically get their house (life) in order. But in reality God knows what He's dealing with, failures. It started with Adam, who failed and the list continues after that. But just like Adam, we all fail. Failure to line up to God's standard. Failure comes in many sizes. But God loves and works with failures. It's an issue of the heart. King David failed, but David was still considered a man after God's own heart. Generally, people don't like to fail. Failure quickly reveals that we aren't all that we think we are.
Mankind is a falling creation and we'd expect that we will fail at some point. We know that God knows this, because He sent Christ to rectify the issue. So we see that God is in the business of calling and working with failures. This is where we rise above the mire of failure. God is our mentor. God also equips others to help mentor His children. What a relief to know that God is aware of our failure to make the grade, which is His standard by the way, but He is there to work with us to fail less. Peter denied Christ three times and yet Christ built his church through Peter.
Failure is a bitter poison that can douse hope, darken the future and hold someone in bondage. Failure is part of life so we can drink the lie (poison) that we can't be helped or like Peter confess that we love God and let Him mentor us beyond the failure. I like to say, "I tried to be perfect once, but I failed to do so". We must humbly except who we are, failures. BUT we must accept that God is far greater than our failures and that God is in the business of hiring and working with failures.
