Deuteronomy 28 - Blessings rather then curses

Setting – Moses starts off with what blessings the Lord will bless Israel if they follow His commandments verses 1-14 and then a chapter full of consequences from verses 15-68.

Content – Some of the blessings were, blessed offspring of both man and beast, defeating of enemies, fruitful fields, seasonal rain, etc. They shall lend to nations, but never borrow, be considered the head and not the tail, above and not beneath. These blessings would occur if they (v. 14), “…do not turn aside from any of the word which I command you today, to the right or to the left…”
But the curses are numerous from verse 15 to 68. All of the blessings given above will turn into curses but many more, (v. 60) “"He will bring back on you all the diseases of Egypt of which you were afraid, and they will cling to you.” Basically (v. 62), "It shall come about that as the LORD delighted over you to prosper you, and multiply you, so the LORD will delight over you to make you perish and destroy you; and you will be torn from the land where you are entering to possess it.”
Curse after curse were listed. Dreadful curses all (v. 47), "Because you did not serve the LORD your God with joy and a glad heart, for the abundance of all things…”

Application – We saw in chapter 27 where the curses were listed and none of the blessings. Here we see a few blessings, but numerous curses. Chapter after chapter, Moses shows what will occur to Israel if they don’t follow God. More admonishment was given then blessings.
I want to be blessed by God. I don’t want any curses at all in any part of my life. I know that trails will come, but that I find the blessings of God in the midst and end of them. In order for the blessing to occur I need to follow God’s will and His commandments.
