Daniel 12 - The end-times

Setting – More information was given to Daniel about the end-times.
Content – Michael the arch-angel will guard over the people of Israel during the end-times (v. 1a NLT) “At that time Michael, the archangel who stands guard over your nation, will arise.” This will be the greatest trouble time (v. 1b NLT) “Then there will be a time of anguish greater than any since nations first came into existence.” The resurrection of those who have dead, the Old Testament souls (and all of the saints), will receive a new body (v. 2 NLT) “Many of those whose bodies lie dead and buried will rise up, some to everlasting life and some to shame and everlasting contempt.” 1 Thessalonians 4:16 “…and the dead in Christ will rise first.” The end-times will be busy and knowledge will increase (v. 4b NLT) “Many will rush here and there, and knowledge will increase.” [boy, doesn’t that depict our time now]. The end of the tribulation will occur for 3-1/2 years (v. 7b NLT) “It will go on for a time, times, and half a time. When the shattering of the holy people has finally come to an end, all these things will have happened.” Gabriel explained that this information related to the end-times (v. 9 NLT) “But he said, “’Go now, Daniel, for what I have said is for the time of the end.’” These end-time trials will result in purification, cleansing and refining of the saints (v. 10a NLT) “Many will be purified, cleansed, and refined by these trials.” The 1,260 days that make up the three years, “time, times and half a time” there is another 30 days, possibly for judgment of those who are living (v. 11 NLT) “From the time the daily sacrifice is taken away and the sacrilegious object that causes desecration is set up to be worshiped, there will be 1,290 days” Then an additional 45 days (1,335 – 1290), which could be the time of transition into the establishment of the millennium kingdom (v. 12 NLT) “And blessed are those who wait and remain until the end of the 1,335 days!” Daniels life will end soon, but Gabriel explains that he will rise again, as mentioned earlier and he will receive an inheritance (v. 13 NLT) “As for you, go your way until the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days, you will rise again to receive the inheritance set aside for you.”

Application – The end times will be filled with tribulation “anguish” and hardship “shattering of the holy people” In the end-times people will be busy “rush here and there” and have great knowledge, but only the wise will discern what is occurring (v. 10 NLT) “Only those who are wise will know what it means.” But we know that through those troubling times those who are God’s children will “shine as bright as the sky” once they (and we) have resurrected from the dead.
Thank you God for providing this information to prepare us/those ahead of time!
