Hebrews 2 - We deserve nothing but get everything

Setting – Jesus brought salvation

Content
– God’s message was brought by angels to His creation (v. 2a ESV) “For since the message declared by angels proved to be reliable”. God also dealt with sin (v. 2b ESV) “every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution”. But now the message and salvation was brought through Christ himself, (v. 3 NLT) “What makes us think that we can escape if we are indifferent to this great salvation that was announced by the Lord Jesus himself?” God assigned the responsibility of the earth to mankind. God (v. 7a-7b-8) “MADE HIM FOR A LITTLE WHILE LOWER THAN THE ANGELS”, “AND HAVE APPOINTED HIM OVER THE WORKS OF YOUR HANDS” & “YOU HAVE PUT ALL THINGS IN SUBJECTION UNDER HIS FEET” Since Jesus was made to be in the flesh, he himself (v. 9) “was made for a little while lower than the angels, {namely,} Jesus”
Being that Jesus made all things, he would bring salvation to his creation (v. 10) “For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to perfect the author of their salvation through sufferings” Being that Jesus was in the flesh like us (v. 14) “Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil”.
This salvation was for mankind (v. 16) “For assuredly He does not give help to angels, but He gives help to the descendant of Abraham.”
Furthermore, since he was in the flesh (v. 17a) “He had to be made like His brethren in all things” he is sympathetic to our plight (v. 17b) “He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God” and (v. 18) “For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted.”

Application
– Christ created our world and us (mankind). We, and not angels, were to rule over the earth. God used angels to give His message to creation and to execute His judgment. Now that we have Christ delivering the message and being the messiah, we are all the more responsible for the salvation given to us, through the spoken word for Christ and his redemption. Christ become like us, flesh and blood so we will share in Christ’s inheritance and Christ considers us brothers and sisters.
Not only did Christ make us, he also saved us. And not only just saved from God’s wrath, but equal heirs. God’s created us for Christ, we are his present. But Jesus had to redeem his gift for himself. But we aren’t just lower recipients of heaven, but equal recipients of Christ's reward.
We contributed nothing to acquire anything (e.g. ruling the earth, salvation, rewards, etc) , everything was done for us, from being created, given the responsibility to rule the earth (which we didn’t create), saved from our rebellion from God’s will and given heavenly rewards which are rightly Jesus’ alone and not ours.
