Setting – Wisdom on daily and future circumstances.
Content – Share (v. 1b NLT) “…for your gifts will return to you later”. To help your future (v. 2 NLT) “Divide your gifts among many, for you do not know what risks might lie ahead” Things happen in life (v. 3b NLT) “When a tree falls, whether south or north, there it lies” so (v. 4 NLT) “If you wait for perfect conditions, you will never get anything done.” Because (v. 5 NLT) “God's ways are as hard to discern as the pathways of the wind, and as mysterious as a tiny baby being formed in a mother's womb.” – so life is not predictable and carries mysteries. Continue to prepare for the future and (v. 6 NLT) “Be sure to stay busy and plant a variety of crops, for you never know which will grow--perhaps they all will.”
The young should enjoy there youth (v. 9a NLT) “Young man, it's wonderful to be young! Enjoy every minute of it. Do everything you want to do; take it all in.” but make righteous choices (v. 9b NLT) “you must give an account to God for everything you do.”
Application – We should be aware that life is not predictable and preparing for the future is wise. Because we don’t know what God’s plan is, we should not expect things to align correctly (as we would define “correctly”) before we move forward with our lives, “If you wait for perfect conditions, you will never get anything done” While we have to ability, we should share with others because this may come back to us in the future.
I know that I want things to be non-complicated, or a better said, “perfect”. This is unrealistic. I think it’s the inner spirit longing for heaven. I should expect less than ideal circumstances and forge forward preparing for the future.
