Setting – The song of Deborah and Barak. The song recounted Israel’s victory.
Content – Deborah (v. 7) “…arose as a mother for Israel”. The song talks about Jael killing Sisera and she was blessed for this (v. 24), “Most blessed is Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite. May she be blessed above all women who live in tents”
After this battle there was peace, once again, for forty years (v. 31), “’LORD, may all your enemies die as Sisera did! But may those who love you rise like the sun at full strength!’ Then there was peace in the land for forty years.”
Application – When need to sing, even if just in our heart, of what God has done for His family and us. God has greatly blessed His people. God has immensely blessed me. We should write a song to God as a family about the blessings that He has given us. This would be a song that can be passed down to generations.
