Judges 4 - God doesn’t forsake His people

Setting – Israel was oppressed by king Jabin for twenty-years. Because Israel cried out to the Lord, he used the prophetess Deborah to prophesy that Barak would be victorious over king Jabin.

Content – Israel did evil again after Ehud died and God sold them to king Jabin, in which they were oppressed for twenty-years. Deborah was the judge over Israel. Israel cried out to God and He delivered them from Jabin (v. 23), “So God subdued on that day Jabin the king of Canaan before the sons of Israel.”
But Barak wanted Deborah to go out to battle with him and due to this (v. 9), “She said, "I will surely go with you; nevertheless, the honor shall not be yours on the journey that you are about to take, for the LORD will sell Sisera into the hands of a woman.” Sisera’s army was defeated, but Jael (women) killed Sisera with a tent peg. So Deborah’s prophecy was true (v. 9), “…the LORD will sell Sisera into the hands of a woman.”
Israel overtook Jabin (v. 24); “The hand of the sons of Israel pressed heavier and heavier upon Jabin the king of Canaan, until they had destroyed Jabin the king of Canaan.”

Application – God disciplines those that are His. He could have left Israel to their misery, but he stood by waiting for them to return to Him. God put them into a situation in order to bring them back to Him. Once they cried out, God, once again, rescued them from their oppressor.
God waits for our crying out if we are far from Him. He doesn’t forsake us Hebrews 13:5, {Make sure that} your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, "I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU,” We see that God doesn’t forsake.
