Joshua 13 - Full compliance to God’s will

Setting – There was still some portions of land that Israel would need to conquer. The capture outlines the territories of Rueben, Gad and half tribe of Manasseh.

Content – There was still land yet to be posses (v. 2), “This is the land that remains: all the regions {of} the Philistines and all {those of} the Geshurites…”. God said to portion this land for Israel for He will drive out these remaining people (which Israel didn’t obey God in doing this). The chapter states the land allocated for Rueben, Gad and half tribe of Manasseh east of Jordan.

Application
– Israel didn’t fully drive out the inhabitants of the land (Judges 1:21-36). So Israel followed most of God’s will in driving out the inhabitants of the land. They experienced the consequences of this in the book of Judges.
I need to take in what Israel did with not fully following God’s will. I can sometimes follow God 90% and call it quits for the other 10%. God doesn’t want partial compliance. I need to remember that God’s will benefits me. If I want to find 100% of God’s blessing then I need to follow His will 100%. Practically, this means, all of my thoughts and heart need to be dedicated to Him. My actions, words, emotions need to be His as well.
